Just over a year ago I made the decision to join Craig Corporate. The driving forces on this decision were two-fold. I wanted to make a real difference to companies, working extensively with owners and decision makers and secondly, I wanted a job with real variety day to day.

Looking back my first year couldn’t have gone any better. In just 365 days I have:

• Performed an interim finance manager role monitoring the day to day financial operations, cashflow management, monthly management account preparation and assisting with a new financial systems integration.
• Performed a VIMBO feasibility study to assess the possibility, both financially and operationally, of a management buy-out. This was concluded with a presentation to both the current owner and management team on the areas of future focus to deliver a successful buy-out.
• Interim Operations Director role in Ireland managing day to day operations including logistical support, HR, health & safety, employee and client contracts, project management, cashflow management, preparation of board packs and presentation of full company performance at board meetings and recruitment of a new Operations Director.

In addition, I have performed a property portfolio restructure, acted as corporate finance advisor to an individual looking to exit their business and been involved in several due diligences for various private equity firms and venture capitalists

Each of the above roles have been in different industries ranging from tech start-ups to geological exploration. It really has been a fantastic year and my year gives a great insight into a selection of the services we provide to our clients.

This was a fantastic event to attend last year and I am very much looking forward to it again this year where we get to celebrate some of the many wonderful family businesses and hear about their success.

It’s an overused cliché but I can truly say that no two days are ever the same and the large variety of services that we can offer our clients makes us truly unique. For that reason, we become integral parts of our clients and are always there to assist when required, no matter what their needs are.
